The college and hospital are adjacent to each other in campus which is spread over 53 acres along national highway 13. The campus is in the heart of the city with old world charm of black stone buildings with well ventilated and massive hospital building and gets included in the visitors list. Campus has its own beautiful landscaped gardens, is eco friendly with water purifying plant, organic manure facilities and incinerator for waste management and round the clock generator facility. The college has twenty three departments with all facilities for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. There is a separate department for yoga research and kannada.
The hospital has total of 940 beds with fully equipped Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Units, burns wards and fully equipped Operation Theatre Complex. Hospital has adequate ventilators, monitors, MRI, x-ray machines, C-arm, CT Scan, Colour Doppler, Dialysis and Nephrology unit. The hospital has Urology unit fully equipped with all endourology equipment and Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy Machine. Hospital also has Gastro Enterology unit with video endoscopes and facility for therapeutic endoscopy. Facility for laparoscopic surgeries is present in General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gyneacology departments. It also has full fledged Blood Bank, Laser Therapy equipment for retinal diseases, Automated Pathology equipment and Blood Gas analyzer in Biochemistry laboratory. All the laboratories work round the clock and Microbiology Laboratory has facilities for majority of the special immunological tests.
Our Biochemistry laboratory has continuously maintained its quality of service and is regularly improving its ranking in All India Biochemistry laboratory rankings conducted independently by Christian Medical College Vellore quality Control study. This year it ranks a respectable 11th rank at National Level.
The eminence of staff has left its mark in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and have fetched name and fame to the Institution. Many of the faculty have held high academic positions like Member of Medical Council of India, Director Academics of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Board of Studies members, Member of Legislative Assembly etc. Regularly our faculty have held high positions in the professional bodies of their specialties and are either office bearers, orators or invitees at national and state level meets. Few of our faculty are on the editorial boards or reviewers for International and Indexed journals like BMJ group of journals and publications.
Academic performance of our students is excellent. RGUHS results remain in general between 90-95% with at least 30-40% out of them securing first classes and few distinctions.
Scope for extra curricular activities like sports is good and our college regularly participates in zonal, inter-zonal and University meets and has regular share of prizes every year. Many of our students are University blues.
Research is equally well taken by our students and they participate regularly in ICMR projects and they have presented papers and won quiz competitions at various levels. Teachers and students are actively involved in research work with good number of publications annually. Our scientific and research society meets regularly every fortnightly and is a good forum for guest lectures, continuous medical education, panel discussions and paper presentations. Our college has hosted nearly eight to ten State Level Conferences and three to four National Conferences and Workshops so far. Scientific and Research Society assists in all these activities and publishes its own journal "Analytica Medica".
